Football schedules have been released, players are getting into conditioning camps and training is underway. Oh boy! This promises to be a great season.
The only thing that concerns me is that there are so many excellent players who will go unnoticed due to no college or scout knowing they exist.
The ones we do see and hear about will never find out that colleges and scouts were looking for them. Hopefully, this season will be different.
Hopefully!

Yes, I am on the road again. Reminds me of the many trips on the road when I worked for Unique Multiplex Systems of Texas. That was a medical transcription company with a branch in Texas. The company was actually headquartered in Chicago.
Yea, I spent a lot of time in Chicago also. Loved it. Hated it. Depending on who you asked and when those were the two answeres you received most.
For those born in Chicago - love it. For those visiting - loved it. For those of us who were forced to be there beyond a couple of weeks or a month - Hated it!
Don't get me wrong. I loved everything about Chicago. The dirty streets during the day time, the huslte and bustle of every day life. But people just did not seem too friendly. There was an air about that said - "don't speak to me and I will not speak to you."
That may seem ackward but that was just the way it was. When you spoke to the person on the street as you walked by people would actually look back at you with the look of death rolled over.
Wow! I am from Texas and I was not use to that. Thank God that is not the case now.
For now know that I am not in Chicago or even close but I do missed those Philly cheese sandwiches and those cheese fries.
Holla!

COMMENTARY
By Dwight L. Bullock
Hooray! The summer is here! Wow! It is hard to believe it but I have completed another year of school. On yea! Now what? Maybe I should get a job for the summer. Wait! It is pretty much already summer; after all this is the 26th.
Sounds familiar! It should. This is what I am hearing a lot of lately especially from members of youth sect that are aged to work. However, what I am not hearing is what those members of our youth have planned to do.
Several already are employed and are expected to work even more hours during the summer. A couple have already begun submitting in applications and are waiting! Then there are the many who have no idea, no plans, no ambition and no direction in which to move.
These are more commonly known as the ones who will spend the entire summer at home, in the streets and playing videos games throughout the night. These are the ones that need the most help.
Surely, the Jasper ISD, City of Jasper or some other social service has plans for the youth of Jasper during the summer. If not then we all know what that means.
We are all -------!
But it does not have to be that way. Surely, there are business entities out there who are interested in putting into place a positive enviroment of "real life" skills ad training to a youth be who may one day much more than any of us could imagine.
Surely, the City of Jasper is aware of the many programs available through grant programs,, educational summer services and more in order to entertain those who just do not find a summer work program to fit their needs.
That is when other program initiatives should be in place through mentor programs, volunteering, tutoring, summer advancement programs as well as student exchange programs.
If you feel, that last summer was just great for the youth of Jasper, Texas - then thanks for hitting the site.
If you feel that last summer is something you do not wish to "do over" again this year when it comes to our youth - then go to the next City of Jasper City Council meeting or call the local radio station KJAS at 409-384-2626, expecially on Jasper Thursdays.

Yes! I know already! It is an over used phrase, "Hearts of Champions!". Still, it takes nothing away from the fact the 2008-2009 Kirbyville Wildcats football team played in the Class 2A State Championship Football game.
This is in the book of records. True! Congrats to Muleshoe.
But, this is about those Wildcats! Those absolutely fantastic Wildcats. Yes, I am partial. And yes I am a tried and true Kirbyville Wildcat - Class of 77. Go 'Cats!
It was great overall!

Okay, I'm sure you all know by now that Democratic presidental candidate Barack Obama has selected as his vice-presential choice of Joe Biden.
Joe Biden! What is going on? What was Barack thinking or was he thinking? It seems to me as if he allowed someone else to think for him during this selection process.
Change we can believe in! Yes, we can!
They both take on a brand new meaning and it most definitely not change as we know or it or yes we can.

What you think about them Bulldogs against PNG? Several players stood out over the course of the game.
Among them were Cameron Stubblefied, Dominique Bailey, AJ Bronson, Cornelius Gills and Ben Armstrong.
What do you think it will take in order for the Bulldogs to advance further into the playoffs than before in recent playoffs?
After all, the Bulldogs seen to never be given their just due in when it comes to rankings. This could be a good thing because it takes the target off your back. The bad thing about it is that fan support is never really there for a team who stands on the brink of a state championship.
The Bulldogs seem to be poised for a good run this year but only the passing of each week will tell.

Okay let's look at this with an open mind. Why do the Jasper Bulldogs not have an athletic complex. Surely the time has come and also just as sure I am not the first to ask the question. In attempts to not be cliche I wonder what the powers that be are thinking.
Sports is not just a hard knots game played on the gridiron of life or just the battle of a volleyball across the net. Sports is alive and brings live to any community in which it trives.
What I don't get is why is it not triving where I live, in Jasper. There are numerous athletes who have excelled after graduation and moved on to next level. Why not expand on that by having a fairly comparable stadium as other schools in the same if not a higher classification.
The pundits, I am sure, are just beating themselves up side their heads wondering who is this nut talking about a new Bulldog athletic complex. Oh well! Remember, I am not the first.

I have been hearing that a lot lately. I guess since most people automatically assume that I am black, that I am an African American that I am already and have been voting and intend for vote for Barack Obama.
They would be wrong!
Hold on! I am not talking about being African American means that I must vote African American or as most say black.
I talking about the fact that they have the wrong person. I am not just a man who is multi-heritaged. I am a man who is multi-heritaged whose blood is very much marred with the blood of the Irish, Cherokee Indian, Cajun, Creole, and probably Mexican who happens to be more on the caring side.
That means one could lean more to the female side...the woman side...the motherly side. And you know what that means. Hello Hillary!

Okay this is a good one for more than one reason. What do you think about high school athletes being photographed participating in the sport of their choice and succeeding while doing so?
What if the team that this athlete plays on producees a great athlete on and off the field with good academic levels?
Would you want your athlete photographed and placed on the World Wide Web for all to see?
Before you answer, there are some creapy individuals out there. But at the same time, you know the value of exposure of your athlete and the impact it could have on college choices.
Am I right? Okay, never mind.
What do you think?
